My nanna died early this morning. I\'m relieved its all over, I hated the thoughts of her just wasting away in that hospital bed. I got the call this morning, on my way home from nightshift. A song was playing at the time and the lyrics seem really poignant now:
My grandmama was a wise old soul
Took my the hand not long ago
Said son whats your hurry boy, slow it down
Taste the wild honey, listen to the sound
Of the wind thats blowing through the trees
Rivers flowing to the seas
Yeah, they\'re all heading home just like you and me
Lifes for living child can\'t you see that
These are the days we will remember
And these are the times that won\'t come again
The highest of flames becomes an ember
And you\'ve got to live it while you can.
RIP nanna, you\'ll be sadly missed.
