Hello Sless mate. Starter motor + hammer - a starter motor is just an electric motor with a shaft running through it. On the shaft there is what is called a Bendix. The bendix is toothed at one end and when the ignition key is turned, the bendix shoots forward and the teeth connect with the teeth on the main flywheel and spin the flywheel to start the engine.Sometimes, the bendix sticks on the shaft and cannot move to turn the flywheel so the engine cannot be spun to start it up.Tapping the starter motor with a hammer usually frees the bendix and the engine can then be started up. Another way is to put the car in 2nd gear and push it forwards and backwards which works as well. And there endeth the lesson for today!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Cheers mate.
George.
