Forecast was great so it was a 5am meet up in the ever so slightly still dark RQ
Not to deterred we just took our time with the usual drills until we were out beyond the piers just as the sky was starting to lighten up
We met a couple of the usual suspects and after exchanging breakfast we went our separate ways
The weather was glorious and the sea was marvellous…the fishing however…well, that was a bit fishy in truth. Or should I say lack of it…
Plenty of mackerel about which we thought was a good omen, so after filling a box full (a mate wanted a load for the freezer) we went about the task of finding fish…:yltype:
…here, there, everywhere…bait, lures, pirks and multiple combinations therein we found it hard going…from up to eight miles to less than a mile from shore there was a surprising lack of fish – of the keeping variety anyway. There was a LOT of whiting about which kept the interest going to some extent but in terms of fish for the freezer we were struggling
Nowts the bother…it had been a long time since we had the sun on our faces and we always enjoy the time at sea – today just happened to be a boaty day not a fishy day
So after a fair few hours of topping up our tans we came back in – with a bag of mackerel for Gregg LOL
The upside is that the end of trip admin was VERY speedy!
