Anyone notice the wind today? :D

Pre-dawn meet up at the RQ sees Captain and Crew set their alarms before 3am! I could even see TVs on in some of the houses while they continued their “Friday night” LOL

No fuel today so it was straight out beyond the piers…dawn was still an hour away at this point :D

XC Weather has long been the benchmark for predicting the weather for Team Slinky and today was no exception…chilly 22mph winds see us both reach for the jackets and hats; the white horses owing to the high wind put a canny bit of a chop on too – today was definitely a Slinky School of Dancing kind of day!

Fishing was not prolific but it was honest – the winds made accurately plotting the drift sometimes a difficult task…so it was a case of drift by numbers.

Sometimes you’d miss and sometimes you’d hit the mark…but more often than not when we hit the spot we’d hit fish!

So that was how the morning went on - with (probably) several miles worth of reeling our end gear trying to find the fish all the while trying to stand up without falling over :D

Backs aching, arms aching but always full of smiles on Team Slinky…great to get out and battle the conditions and to prove our worth as men :exclam::yltype::D

We called it quits around about the time that the average civvy was just getting out of bed with a satisfying haul of fish and the knowledge that we still had a full weekend ahead of us 

Few pics of today:

Early morning on the Tyne looking towards South Shields

The North Pier pointing resolutely towards the North Sea

Finally the sun rises!

Then the fish start coming…

One of the better fish of the day falling to mackerel feathers!

Coalies! And one a jumbo at about 3lb!

Great trip out as ever – cheers Norm!

Until the next time ;)

Cheers

Tony

Well done lads, good fishing and a good write-up as usual.

I had other fishing related duties that kept me away from fishing today and was cursing as the conditions looked good. From your pictures, it wasn’t as comfortable as the forecasts suggested. You’ll be knackered with the combination of the early start and doing the north sea shuffle of standing up.

Looks like a good day Norman.

So are you saying we have to set our alarm for before 3am!?

Haha, Kayos will never make it, it will be just you Tony and me! :D
