Out this morning early at 5.00am, even beat bert and the lads .........
All quiet in the marina but blowing quite a SSWesterly hooly out at sea.
Stopped off for a few mackerel just outside piers with a bit of a chance of cod as well ......
Nowt but Scotchies for Steve who unfortunately I didn`t picture catching any but however I do believe (since he`s the scotchie king) he`s about to publish a book on the subject , I`m sure I`ll get the commission as official photographer, so watch this space.
Scotchie after scotchie for the big lad, and a few to myself as well I must admit but no mackerel they simply weren`t there.
Then along came bert and crew and it was switch on time for cod (they (the cod) must know when shadys about!)
Gave it about an hour or so and still no mackerel (although a few cod) then along came another boat with a fisherman who dropped same lures as us (daylites) almost alongside, to then quickly pull in a full string of mackerel then do off into the distance ..... "I Dont believe it!"

Decided then to do a shoot and head for the inshore wrecks and give it a go , depending on sea conditions.
What a great decision as cod after cod (and a ling) came aboard, usually at the end of the drift well off the wreck. Oh and as many mackerel as you could shake a stick at ---- and a baby guernard as per the pic.
Tried hardest from here to catch a picture of Steve pulling in a scotchie but seems they must all know about the impending book so kept well clear.

Great Day out Very windy and a huge sea past a mile or so but by 8.00am we had a full box ......... by 10.00 am it was time to go and fillet.

ended with (I think) 8 cod, best to 9lb as per pic to follow
an average 5lb ling and a handfull of mackerel to take back (along with the usual scotchies and whiting and guernard that all went back).
Thanks again to steve for the company and sorry to bert and the lads that I forgot to stock up the boat with the usual liquid breakfast, must put that in me diary for next week.

A Baby Guernard (fought like a caterpillar :) )

Aye Tony, Just waiting for him to respond about the scotchies LOL

Stuey errrrm No it was as windy this morning , we had expected it to drop off a little but it didn`t, luckily it was a S to SW wind so hadn`t rolled over the north sea and built up, however it was a bit big and wet out there ............. haha the spray kept the mackie crap down anyway and eased steves cleanup at the end..... :)

Tony ,you'll have to wait for the book mate :D ,Sless I use the kilts to go around my boiled eggs mate ,I thought everyone did that .
Cheers Norman for a belting morning ,maybe we'll get a couple of pics of my fish next time :D .
