since the ratchet has nacked up on my reel im thinking about converting it, has anyone done this and is it any good?

cheers.

thats the ones i was looking at, look easy enough to install..

just dont want to waste £18 on something that wont make any diffrence.

yes they are easy to install.

with magnets at least they are easy to adjust without having to take reel apart.

brake blocks if you want to put diff size blocks in for diff conditions you have to take end plate off and i get fed up of loosing brake blocks.

got the reel spot on with the blocks in, but they make a horrible sound when you hit out hard.. was thinking with the mag conversion on and no blocks it should sound nice and smooth. ???

or am i wrong in thinking that!!

not easy to say without hearing the reel when cast.

have you not got a m8 who has one to compare it with, or if you live anywere near houghton-le-spring i would have a look at it for you.

to me

to me

i've been fishing 30 years plus, probs seen every reel on market,THIS THAT,basically you wanna use your reel tention on your reel to compensate(THAT DOES THE TRICK)stop trying to do something better than these guys WHO built these reels,,you gonna do something better,(design your own),think about it lads, these gadgets are only for tornament casters,ps cant remember how to spell ,,TORNAMENT,LOL.

Ppps

Ppps

forgot to mention i use a 7ht(ORGINAL),and i will (OVERHEAD) cast more than 70 per cent more than these pendulem casters,!!!

read the post properly - im not trying to outcast anyone, just stating if the mag conversion is any good 'coz the ratchet on my reel is on its way out. :D

Using the tension on the side of the reel will only damage the bearing as it causes side thrust on the bearing and it is not designed to take preload like a tapered roller bearing, the screw cap is only to centre the spool and prevent to much end float magging it will make the reel run smoother and like johnr says prevent you having to mess around tuning the reel to suit the conditions, as for out casting pendulum casters etc want to put some money on that lol.

Try Rutherfords at roker he has daiwa conversions in, also as it is a shv, ie with the alloy spool you dont need the conversion plate as used with the SL so a abu mono mag will also fit no problem.

Av just bought a mag conversion for my Saltist 20 not had time to fit it yet but instructions sound simple enough.
