Slosh ?s

I bought a second hand slosh30 yesterday and have a couple of questions about it. I have used multis for piking (6501s) so not completely new to me. I have not used the reel yet but the spool seems pretty fast, usually with lures i set the spool tension so the lure stops as it hits the ground without overrunning, how tight should the spindle be on the slosh? With the 6501 after you cast out turning the handle puts the reel back in gear, with the slosh i have to move the lever back, is this right? Also the reel has no blocks, what size should i cut some biro tube to fit.
cheers

Its fast as theres no brakes in
Yes you do manually have to put the reel back in gear

hi mate i just set the spool with just a small amount of play and i used the red tube of a wd40 tin cut mine to about half a inch and it has slowed it down great also stuck some 2in1 oil on the bearings other lads will give you some other advice its just trial and error where abouts you live mate

hi steve mines pathetically slow .... wanna swap ?....being serious tho ...i think u can get a mag conversion for it for approx 20 quid....it will gove u better control... i think rutherfords have it

took the brakes out of mine completely, think 1/2 blocks are way to big you only want something like 5 mm, manually put back into gear, also if ya want to slow the reel down use motor oil or gear box oil, its thick and slows ya bearings down

Put a couple of bits of WD40 straw in and took it for a try down at Hebburn, just practice casting. Very pleased with it seemed to be getting about mid river howver far that is, quick retrieve and smooth. Some slight overruns but no nests. First time using a reel without a level wind. How do i get the bearings out when the time comes to re oil, seems a lot mnore complicated than the ABU. A lot of lads down fishing along the marina today too.
cheers
