Fished off the Heugh today and spotted a trawler stopping on the way in bought half mile off. Dropped a couple hundred feet of Gill nets before returning the short journey to the harbour.
HOW MUCH SEA IS THERE OUT THERE.
ps caught a postage size flattie.

This hapens all over mosty it's the spanish boats they just scoop up every thing that swims. Why can't we be like Iceland send out our gun boats and Torpedo a few once we have sunk a few boats they will soon get the message...But no i don't think there is any thing we can do just live with it untill there is no fish left...

That`s a prawn trawler Mick,he is probably just mending part of his net before he goes into harbour or he may have a heavy object(scrap) which he is bringing into shallower water to try and get it aboard.

No he dropped a gill net. Fed from the back and left it-seen with my own eyes and evidenced with my camera.
Probs after salmon or sea trout.?

He's a hartlepool registered boat Mick , probs under 30ft so as long as he is licensed, it's legal. This is exactly why the sea fisheries commitees should be implementing a "golden mile" . They are not bothered about spoiling our sport, and they are also spoiling their own livelyhoods by fishing in the nursery areas.
