Small Dolphins?

Out off St Mary’s yesterday a pod of what I can only describe as small dolphins started leaping out of the water right in front of my kayak and then off they went.
I have seen plenty of dolphins off Whitley Bay before but these were so small, less than a meter long.
Did anyone else see them yesterday? I doubt that they were just young dolphins, is there a species of small dolphin that we have in our waters?

Earlier in the year I saw a couple of small dolphin/porpoise in the bay in and around Blyth Pier

saw them this morning m8 off whitburn,,only 2 or 3 i think,,about 2 mile out,,i think they were porpoise but could be wrong as i only saw the backs of them about 50 yards away,,cheers lads parrot.....

Never seen dolphins in blyth before... will have to keep an eye out

never heard of a race of small dolphins near the north east mate sorry

there was a small black one swimming next to tynemouth pier yesterday morning but was gone before i got my camera out
