Snood Length

Would appreciate some opinions regarding snood lengths when fishing rough ground. I have tended to use a long snood where ever i fish, yet I was fishing along side some guys the other day off the rocks who used very short snoods, probably 1 foot long tops, also the were using pulley rigs. It got me thinking, is a long snood more likely to snag as it may be placed to far away from lead and therefore end up in a area away from your cast.
Opinions and advice would be appreciated.

i use pulley rigs with snoods about 14-18 inches long

Same here 14 inch max for the rough.

rough ground i use 12-14" clipped down pulleys, clean ground anywhere up to 3 ft snoods

Cheers lads, have been using long lengths and suspect its caused more snaggs, I will try shorter lengths, now.
