flipping stuff, had enough of it now, snowed every day for over a fortnight.

was hoping to get to the tar barling tonight, which if anyone wants something mad to do on new years eve i highly recomended. walk around drinking beer with a barrel of burning oil on your head!

Went to school for a brief ten months in Allendale many years ago and have always wanted to do the New Year thing there - I think next year will be the one.

Best Wishes to all on NESA have a great 2010 :)

its always more atmospheric with plenty snow on the ground. the tar barling is just the climax of a whole bizzarre night of very paganesque activities

wierd fancy dress, kings/queens/princes/clowns/midgets,witches, blacked up faces, the greenman, hobby horse, some seriously trippy drum rhythms...

makes the whicker man look a bit lame!

even the final bonfire where they dump the tar is set up with certain sized bits from very particular tree species to appease the most spirits

well worth it. If you fancy it next year book into the allendale hotel for the night - but book very early (like februrary!)
