I had a species hunting session on the pier this morning. It was pretty windy first off so with the combination of that and a big tide I decided to only set up one rod to avoid tangled lines. Two hook flapper size 1/0 with rag on one hook and lug on the other. First cast was about 5.45am at the 43 mark. I fished there for two hours through first light and over high tide. Not a thing, not even a knock (though that may have been difficult to spot in the wind) so I moved down to the rail end and fished there for another two hours. I caught a five bearded rockling on lug first chuck then later on two small spotty flounders on rag.
