South Shields Pier 23/08/2012

[Thunderpants]

I fished the pier last night about half way between the rail end and the toilet block on the seaward side. The water was like a mill pond and there was no breeze at all. I tried the float for a bit but was mainly ledgering. It was quiet for the first hour then I landed a flounder then nothing much else until it started getting dark and the whiting came on and it was non-stop action. Knocks every cast sometimes after my bait had only just gone into the water. I pulled in a double shot of a whiting and a canny dab 33cm on the two hooks of a pennel rig at one point. I ended up catching ten fish biggest whiting was 37cm. Great fun. All fish caught on mackerel and rag. None caught on the float but I gave up on that after an hour.

Nice report Mike, it sounds like a great session with plenty of fish to keep you busy, I've never had much luck with a float myself.

Well done m8 plenty of action keeping you busy so thats what you want while out fishing as its gets a bit boring when nothing is happening so again well done.
