This was a great match and a good turnout. 20 anglers fished, 11 weighed in with a total of 63 fish for a total weight of 54lb 7ozs. The results are:

1st - Paul Smith, 13 fish, 10lb 4ozs

2nd - Robert Lees, 9 fish, 8lb 7ozs

3rd - Marc Wilkinson, 6 fish, 7lb 4ozs

4th - Steve Elliot, 9 fish, 6lb 13ozs

5th - Mark Robson, 8 fish, 5lb 15ozs

6th - Joe McDonald, 5 fish, 4lb 2ozs

7th - Harry Elliot, 3 fish, 3lb 4ozs

8th - Andrew Nickerson (me!), 3 fish, 3lb 3ozs

9th - Phil Coates, 3 fish, 2lb 5ozs

10th - Keith Walker, 2 fish, 1lb 9ozs

11th - Steven Barnett, 1 fish, 1lb 2ozs.

Well done lads. Since the Heugh has been fenced off good and proper i have tried several different locations. Seaham pier was canny but dangerous with the odd wave coming over. After nearly losing some fishing gear decided to try other spots. Best to date has been the Walkway but concerned over car parking. Have tried S/S pier now few times and really enjoyed it. Trying to work out bad spots for snags but top dollar pier. Well done guys.

mick the pier is not to bad as long as you can get a half decent cast mate and retrieve like hell off the bottom ,but if your fishing the tide down try the brass ball at the end the tide helps lift yourlead off the bottom

mick if you want peace of mind, park your car in the hotell car park and only a few minutes walk to walkway.

also pop39 right about pier its not as bad as people say, most of pier is canny, as long as you get a decent cast (50yds should see you alright, but keep clear of harbour side between numbers 24 to 50 its a graveyared for leads

Cheers Lads. My lasting thought of the pier is the big fat seal lazing in the water just at the entrance. Must have had a field day for fish when we were there.

I was on the pier that day aswell and everybody seen the seal eatin a cod weighin in the region of about 8-9lb
Twas a biggin to say the least

Your kiddng right, 8 to 9lb... The size of the cod that that bugger had was more in the region of 18 to 19lb, it was a big, big fish!

only joking andrew , would'nt doubt it for a second mate as a have see some really big cod getting eating by a seals over the years, somtimes hard to jiudge weight as somtimes a canny way off, know one thing bet you think wat a waste and wish was on youline

Exactly mate. But even looking from a distance you could tell the fish was well into double figures, the seal was massive but it struggled a bit controlling that fish.

The cheeky bugger (the seal) then took the fish around to the southeast corner, around 120yds+ off, where we seen the fish disapear down its neck, bet it enjoyed that, a would have enjoyed it more if the fish was my line instead of a seals mouth!

Had to spend around 2hrs of the afternoon ducking coz of somebody not shouting heads when casting...

Couldnt care less mate, you fished the brass ball and i was on the southeast corner, only 5yds or more away, and your lead comes my way or direction coz of the way you cast its gonna go sideways and up if it were to snap, a had to make me mates aware that you where casting. Am not saying your a dodgy caster, which your not, but shouting heads is easy to do and alerts people next to u that your gonna cast, it only gives warning just in case.

Because if that lead does come off unfortunately and suddenly, and nobody has there head down, I'd hate to think of the concequences.
