Into my second week after the op now Graham

, I feel fine but I'm not allowed to do virtually anything for two weeks then no heavy lifting for another four after that , you can bet your life if I get out before then I'll hook a twenty and have to cut the line

I was thinking about some smaller speed jigs for the rough ground , the pirks I use for the wrecks are 12 and 16 oz and catch plenty fish as they are but they are a bit overkill for fishing in shallower water over the ground , I think I'll have some 200g speed jigs made up for the spring run over cresswell skeres.
I know what you mean about it being hard to deviate Norman, this boat angling lark is not the best for experimentation, we get so few days out and then so few of those are good conditions and those that are seem to go so fast that it's very difficult to tear yourself away from whatever is working to try something else. I tended to fish pirks on the slow drift days and shads on the faster drift days and very little else , must try harder this season:red:
I think the concept of fast drop speed jigs is more suited to pelagic fish in warmer climes that chase prey fish at high speed, I'm sure cod will take them but rarely when they are doing 90mph mid water

I think I like the idea of a fluttering action pirk which is just big enough to hold bottom in 60ft of water over the rocks when the cod are on the shads , I'll have to give it a go, whether I use a stinger/assist hook is another matter , but I like the idea of them.
Hopefully this wind will drop off after next week and I'll be able to give winter fishing a go , the fishing I did in November seems like it was more like summer fishing.
