ladds im looking to fish over west coast of scotland in the summer .im looking for
a spinning rod to fish rock edges looking for something easy to medium action with a casting weight of 20-40grms any advice and thought on what i can get p.s got a budget of 50-70 pounds

I use a Greys G-Series 15-60g picked it up on Ebay for £60 new. It casts really far and has plenty of strength for lifting a big pollack up onto a rock. I love it. Canny for spinning on the piers too.

Try here www.garryevans.co.uk they normaly have some good deals on, got a sonik sk3 with a free mitchell reel. Haven't used the reel yet but looks a cracking reel, the rods the 10ft 3 piece casts 18-40g so far its landed 7 salmon one 5lb, one 6lb, three 10 pounders, one 12lb and one 17lb, great sport and the rod performed brilliantly, the SK4 is also a nice rod

I love my Ron Thompson Steelhead Pro... Dont be fooled by the name or the ridiculously low price (around £20) they are absolutly mint... Even some of the more experienced lure anglers on the likes of wsf etc say often about how good they are... I use a lighter one 15-40g ish but apparently the others are great too

ron thompson tyran spinning rod 10ft 20-60g cant fault it, its lite & can handle anything.

Billzo, will this rod be ok for float fishing Dunstanbrough ect??
trust me m8 its spot on, ive spun spinners 4 macky with it & a set of daylites & pulled in a string of 4 mackys last season. deep spun sandeels 4 pollock, when i say handle anything i mean anything lol.
u can get them in all different sizes m8, infact a m8 of mine got the 8ft rod 2 use over in norway & had coalies from 10-15lb off the jetty's.
the only thing i dont like about the rod 4 spinning is the butt section has a 5inch section added 2 the bottom of the butt, this makes it a bit 2 long 4 spinning in my opinion so was thinking of just cutting mine off. great 4 float fishing 2 m8 great fast response 2 the rod
bill.

Spot on Bill, great info. Made my mind up for me ! Any idea what sort of reel I should be pairing up with it? Around the same price if possible ?
