Spooling new reel

I got ****ed off trying to load my reels so I bought one of those diawa brackets that you set your spool on and it spins as you load the reel. Our lass is over the moon cos she doesn't have to hold a screw driver with the spool on any more.

If you've got a vice or someone to hold a screw driver through the spool then it's pretty straight forward, just make sure you lay it on tight and lay it evenly with your thumb if it's a multiplier
Take it slow too so you can get consistent line lay

Its a fixed spool mate. Which way should the line come off the spool ? A few videos show different ways of it coming off so im confused ha

chuck the spool of line in a bucket of water ,fix the reel to a rod of some kind and pass the line through the rings , pass the line under the bail arm and tie it to the reels spool , begin reeling in until the desired level of line is reached , line comes off the reel the opposite way to it going on

Why the bucket of water? or is that just to stop if flying around?

It also puts the line on wet . easier on the fingers , especially using a multi as you have to feed the line on . and yes its to stop the spool flying about and you also can do it alone .

I love this idea.

I have always wondered why manufacturers don't put a marker say every 50m? I have a 300m braid spool and want to put 150m on two reels, but how do you judge!?

Have the line come off the spool in the same direction the rotor on the reel spins and you will reduce the amount of twist going into the line (anti clockwise in almost all fixed spool reels now if you look at it from the rear)
