spring codling.

on the danish scene. went out last night to see if the spring codling were in, and they were! codling on just about every cast.nothing big but average 2lb`ers and loads of smaller 1lb`ers.when it gets a little bit warmer then the bigger cod will be in. i was the only one using mussel which gave the bigger fish. other anglers there were using rag" and only caught the small codling.
I only took 2 cod home and a flounder the rest were released, one thing that really spoiled the nights fishing was the "arabs" and the "east-europeans" who bagged everything they caught they dont realize that there is a size limet and i was sad and P.O. that they took carrier-bags full of small babies
well, when i gutted the fish they were full of crabs and some of them still alive and started crawling around the kitchen sink

Nice catch report mate, you not used peeler crab over there as bait it would possibly be a good bait?

i will be going crab hunting soon, just needs to be a bit warmer.iam proberbly the only person in denmark that uses mussel and crab, i think people over here are scared to get there hands dirty. lol.

LOL, i think it will be a killer cod bait mussel and crab over there. Hope to read more of you're catch reports.

I fish mostly around the helsingør area.(north-east sjælland) its got the deepest waters from the coast , otherwise most of the coastal waters here are very shallow.Krak.dk

Aye - I've fished once or twice up there 16 years ago. Do the cod grow to any size?

Hi, at the moment they are not that big, i am waiting for a big tide "flood" which should bring some canny big cod in with it. the tide over here is so unpredictable(sometimes the tide does come in! LOL.) The night i was fishing the water level was only about 20cm above, needs to be a metre or so above which in the past has given me loads of big fish up and over 5kg. its weird mate, fishing for cod when the weathers warm and the sea is flat as a duck-pond. its the opposite to the North-east coast, thinking back to when i use to standing on the end of roker pier freezing my ***`s off, hudled around a tilly-lamp but they were great days and nights.
