Fished the pier 2 down and 2 up yesterday (15th) in a gusty wind using fresh blacks and ragworm. First job was to weigh a fish of 5.5 lb for a lad whose own scales had packed up. They left soon after and I was on my own for about 10 minutes when others started to arrive. I was fishing just to the right of the eye and apart from a single dab had nothing for the first hour or so. I then landed one of about 2 lb, which I would have been happy with at the moment. Later I hit into a good fish of 4.5lb. This was handballed up by the lad next to me so I'm grateful for that. I fished on till just after midnight and even though the tide was two hours up the fresh water coming down the river balanced out the incoming tide so there was no tide pull to fish the SE corner.

I'v put up a picture taken this morning which doesn't do justice to the bigger fish but you'll get the idea. They were both stuffed with small crabs and sandeels.

Nice to meet ya tomt. i was the lad near by who handballed your fish. Because the wind was wicked all night i never left my rod , so did'nt speak to any one just kept myself to myself. Any way an hour after you left i got one 4 lb 10 . The roe in it weighed 3/4 lb and went down lovely in vinegar. Well done on getting 2 out mate.
