Well I headed down the pier this morning for first light to fish over high water. Got there about 5am and there was a canny sea on so I decided to set up a little way past the first gate and fish seaward side into the gulley in case there was any silver about. There wasn't but I had a canny session all the same. I fished two rods, one seaward side and one harbour side. Baits alternating between rag, Mackie and bluey and various combinations. The seaward side produced a few flounders including a canny one 37cm and a smaller one with lovely red fins.

The harbour side produced a few coalies, biggest one 33cm, and a small tommy. I packed up about 9am in good time to get back for breakfast :)

Great report mate. Seems like the fish were on the end of the pier today, the Alberta club had a match on so it was chocka but there were some canny fish caught. I hung back at the 44 but only a couple of coalies to show.

Ah ha! That explains why hoards of people all turned up just after the gate was opened, it was like a bus had just pulled in. Yeah a canny day to be out and nice to see a fresh of run of coddies turning up this weekend though sadly none of them were mine :)
