Fished the tide up yesterday on the 43 mark in great weather. Put the big rod out with big crab and rag baits in the hope of a codling and got one just size which was returned. Water looked too dirty for the chance of a Plaice so stuck it out on big smelly baits on a 2/0 Pennel. Plenty of rattles from Dabs and smaller fish but only a Pollock around 25cm and a similar size Dab managed to hook themselves apart from the little codling (see pic).

Float fishing was very poor, possibly again due to the water color but managed a couple of small coleys at maximum depth bouncing the bait (piece of rag) through the rocks and kelp.

Had a go down the side with the LRF gear and plenty of little coleys on that plus a couple of little codling about half a pound apiece. One was red like a goldfish and I thought it was a wrasse as it came up the wall. But not to be.

All in all a pleasant enough short session and some good company.
