Had half a dozen crab to use up so I headed up to the 40s for low water.
Had bites every cast on half crabs on size 1 flappers. Missed more than I hit. Ended up with 2 codling best 30cm 2 plaice 36cm and 39 and a 39cm pollock which came as a fair suprise. Thought it was a coalie til it came over the wall. Couple of fish came off on the retreive too, which im putting down to my poor bait presentation.

Lost the best fish I hooked last cast, got about 30 yards on it and It stayed low all the way, line singing in the breeze until it went solid. Tried giving it slack line a few times and it was still banging away so I hoped I would just bend out the other hook or snap it and I decided to pull by hand but I lost the lot. Gutted. Might have been a much better plaice or decent codling. Should have been more patient and tried letting it swim out a few more times.

rotten bottoms everywhere on the pier for me from now on. Dont mind losing lead but dont want to lose decent fish

Unlucky with the lost fish mate, could of been the hook sizes too small. I had a decent codling about 2lb last week drop off my hook, size 1 flappers fishing for plaice, as I lifted it out water it dropped off and rolled down pier wall back into sea, I blamed the hook size anyway lol, still a canny session though mate.

Good point about the hook size. Will try 1-0s next time. Might have a better hook up rate
