Fished 1 down 2 up on the island. Started on the front just to the left of the stone pillar belting it out into the deep water and looking for some tide. Crab and Mussel. No bites for an hour so moved round to the north side out of the rather fresh wind which was lifting the sea a little too much.
North side was better with plenty of bites on the bait rod and a few small and brightly colored codling up to about 30cm. All returned of course and I am glad to say they went back fine. Had a few casualties on other sessions lately in this hot weather.
Also had a few bonny wrasse on the float rod and rag including the brightly colored specimen pictured. I got unceremoniously smashed off on the float rod too, lifted into a fish and just a big surge and 10lb fluorocarbon smashed clean through. Although I guess it will have touched a sharp edge on the rocks to break like that.
