Not that I'm competitive or anything but I was desperado to catch my first North East Wrasse after last nights blank...
I still had some rag left over so I was up at 0730, pulled on last nights clothes and went straight down to the Lighthouse
It was an absolutely gorgeous morning...
and this was my view from where I was fishing...
I was fishing the gulley at the back of the Lighthouse - which is quite deep and kelpy so looked really promising.
Chucked the float right on the edge of the kelp to see if i could entice anything....nothing for quite a while then my float dissappeared like a rocket, I struck and the rod nearly came out of my hands...It was a geet big wrasse well over 1 1/2lb and it was fighting like it's life depended on it...got it to my feet, bent down to pick it up.....it shook it's head, unhooked itself and rolled back into the kelp
I was gutted, but also happy - coz at least I knew they were there!!
So I tried again...nothing for ages then my float dissappeared and struck into another scrapper, could tell this one was obviously smaller, but it was still great fun trying to pull it out of the weed...
Nothing huge - but my first North East Wrasse!!!
So what about the seal? Well he was swimming around, I could see his head pop up having a butchers at me (the fishing funnily died off around about this point
) but everytime I went for my phone to take a pic he just rolled back under the water...at one point, while I was re-baiting he was basking himself on the rock scratching his belly and yawning no more than 50ft from me...no sooner than I reached for the camera again he winked at me ( I swear he did the cheeky b*gger
) and flopped back into the shallows.
Really enjoyed it this morning - I'm deffo going back there at some point to try and target a specimen.
Howay Gregg and Gloves pull your finger out!!!
........reet what's next? Pollock or bass
rolleyes:

Cheers....Tony
