Bit late with this report but thought it's been quiet here recently so..
Went to St Peter's last Wednesday night with me mate Mark and me mate Bobby (non angler) to use up some scraps of bait.
Wasn't expecting much as the few lug we had and started to go off. Took along a mate who doesn't fish so knew I would be lending a hand to him most of the night but it was an excuse to get out.
Got set up with the three rods and just got sat down when both Mark and Bobby had a few knocks on their rods. Both started to pull in, and had caught each other's line but there was a fish on. Neither knew who had it until we got it to the surface. It was on Mark's line but Bobby's was wrapped around it as well. Managed to handball it up to the side safely, result was a 2 and a half pound codling which isn't bad at all for the river.
While they got baited up again I got a canny knock on mine, started to pull in but after just a few turns felt it come off.
Five minutes later Mark gets another knock and brings in a micro Pollock that went back safely.
Not bad for the first 15 minutes, but unfortunately that was it. Used up our bait in the next hour and then a bit more kindley donated by a couple of lads next to us which lasted another hour but unfortunatley no more bites. Five blanks in a row for me now. Need something soon!
