fished steetley pier today from 9:30 til 16:00 and me and my brother blanked.

the sea was really flat until the wind got up and then gave it a bit of a chop for a couple of hours.

however my dad ( who has just returned to fishing from a 10 year gap) managed to catch 2 dab, 1 plaice and 2 flounder, only 1 flounder was above the legal limit, all fish went back.

my cousins partner/ boyfreind managed to catch a very small dab, so small you could see though it without putting it up to the light (returned fish).

really enjoyed my day out.

I have came to a conclusion regarding Steetly. If the sea is flat so is the fishing. It must be the sandy bottom. It always fishes better when there is a decent sea running/or has been running.
I think the heugh fares a bit better because you have rocks.
What everywhere needs is a good NE Blow.

Mick.

Your right about needing the good blow but if the forcast holds out it's going to be SE rather than NE, not that that's a bad thing mind, I know some good marks during a good SE, one in particular it doesn't matter how big the sea is it's still fishable, and can be a bite a cast! Keeping fingers crossed;)

Talking of flat seas,I was at Redcar yesterday and took a couple of fotos on my phone,I'll put them up when I can.Witches comes to mind
