Well late start today as could nto sit and look at the web cams any longer and see the sea flatten off so set off at 1pm with my mam for a planned trip close in fishing the sand banks etc.

Got to the marina and met with less than perfect sea conditions but we set off anyway, passed a small 21ft boat wrecked on the side of shields pier.

With the sea flat about 3pm i decided to try a spot of rough ground i used to fish very often a sit has a small wreck on the back end of it...well i took 2 cod and my mam hooked into a ling all about 5lb then as per, she did it again, every boat trip i take her on the wrecks she lands a double, a 12lb 5 oz cod taken on crab baited mackerel daylights right on top of this tiny wreck.

Well that is her biggest cod but never beat her biggest ling as 13oz short, so we plugged away not taken much more after that so headed in at 6pm with 4hrs nder our belt.

Until Wedensday now :)

Good to see you getting out again, making the most of the boat.

Big well done to your mam, our lass always kicks my arse when ever she comes out fishing aswell.

I, see did well and first day out with her new 20lb class rod.

Ow and i should add that the fish went back alive as did all the other cod and ling.

I was reading about "Swordfish" fishing boat tagging fish and this has prompted me into purchasing some tags, i will be tagging any fish over 8lb cod or ling with a number and email address to send the weight and location where caught.
I will be very suprised if i got any back but it only costs 2p a tag so why not try out of interest.

well done to ya mam,she can come out on my boat any time to show me where the doubles are,and who says women are unlucky on board

5 trips 4 doubles

10lb 9oz cod
10lb 12 oz ling
13lb 3oz ling
12lb 5oz cod

Not bad going err for someone that does not like wreck fishing as to much winding in.

Congratulations to Mrs Roll ( Richys Mam ) I can see were your son gets it from. When most children were being taught their ABC - 123 Richys Mam was teaching him how to fish for doubles.
Quality Fish & Quality Time Spent With Your Mam BRILLIANT Think Its Great.

well done Rich, good to see you getting the hours in, its the only way :) :) ... congrats mate on putting yourselves over the fish ...

hi north east the boat was mine we had engine trouble just near piers we turned boat around headed back in wev were near red marker bouy when engine packed in we put anchor out but it wouldnt get hold of any thing wind pushing us near pier we tried flagging police launch as he was heading in our direction to throw toe rope to him but he went straight passed then stopped about 2 hundred yards away and stayed there till we run aground as the life boat got to us he radioed them to see if they needed any help why couldnt he come over when we were flagging him down only he knows the answer anyway the boat landed in a straight up position when tide was out resting against a massive boulder no damage to hull so i was very lucky and thanks to life boat crew who came back out as tide was rising helping me get boat safely off rocks along with wind dancer a big thank you
