Days all round booked off work so with a very late start of 9.30am out the lock myself Keith and Big Sid again headed out to a smooth sea with the sun blazing down.

Tried a few inshore marks but not a great deal doing, few mackerel, few coalie and odd codling and ling but not it good numbers. So we started our move around, and around and around until we started to pick up a few.

We started hitting cod and ling on the pirks and bait but with the shocking speed of the drift, it was not going to be an easy day. I pulled my back and was out of action for a while then when i tried again i still found it hard going with pain.

So the word of the day was "Bankers" headed off and tried my first banker, a wreck i have not failed to catch on since April 2009...well record broken...not a bite for any of us so off we went banker number two....bingo found the fish or really i should say Keith did.

He took a 11lb 4oz cod followed by a 10lb 2 oz cod on the next drop. This spured me on to get the prik out and took one between 8 1/2 and 9lb and a smaller one of about 4lb.
The drift was still shocking but we plugged away taken a few fish.

So not a great haul would say 15 cod and ling keepers with coalie, mackerel, whiting.

Beats a day at work and was still a good day but my hopes had been higher, until next time :)

And once again well done on the two nice cod Keith

Cheers Richy, a cracking a day off work, not the ideal conditions we expected but you found us some canny fish!

I need some filleting lessons, not sure what is stinging more, my sliced finger or my burnt shoulders :D

Thanks again for the trip out and thanks to Graham for the help filleting and the surgical sparky's tape, sorry I used it all and you had none for your wound. :red:

Two doublers is a great day in my books - was on the end of Blyth Pier earlier and these "gentle westerlies" seem a little stronger somehow :D

Nice one lads :) (especially Keith)

Not so much a knack its just rather than hammer the 2-4lbers on rough ground etc i head out and go after a few bigger ones, sometimes you get none bigger than off the rough ground but often you do and it paid off for Keith.

Sunday next trip out but weather all over the shop so waiting to see what the plan of attack will be.

Once Again I Have To Thank Richy (Northeast1) For The Invitation To Fish Onboard Stingray For Another Brilliant Days Boat Angling, THANK YOU. I Look Forward To The Next Adventure On Sunday. Cheer's Richy.

From the sounds of it we will be in a line to set up for the drift with all the boats fishing the comp lol, i be happy with a smooth sea and abit sun, few fish around the stamp we had on Thursday would nto go amiss either :)

No bother Graham, i think you did more driving of the boat than me again..using ym bad back as a reason this time rather than just being tired :)

Good if my back is as bad as it is sitting typing this i been the bait and gaff man for this comp...cant bend down at all never mind jig or wind in.
