Late start today 8am but still never stopped the fish biting, we set off out and greated with yet again a smooth sea and light west wind, thou this never lasted all day as the wind picked up and the showers came the sea stayed rather smooth all day.

The day started well with Graham into 4 ling in only a few drops upto about 6lb and me into a cod around 7lb, the next two wrecks had nothing on at all so we headed abit further out to a old fav, nothing at all but whiting so we kept moving and i plotted a new wreck ont he 9mile mark and we both took a few more cod and odd ling from it.

We spotted a ship heading for us moving very slow and when we got closer we got a look at it, a cable laying ship hard at work.

The showers started and we decided to try a couple of wrecks ont he way in, the 1st one we hit on slack tide and hit into some nice cod upto 7lb and my first double ling for a few trips at 10lb 5oz

We hit about 6 cod and ling from this mark before the rain got abit much and we headed in with a full fish hold and a lot put back, the amckerel are getting abit much now, know matter what you drop they have a go at, we even caught them on a lead twice as they tried to eat it and got the lead out the gills.

My catch...

9 cod best 7lb
5 ling best 10lb 5oz
loads of amckerel
3 whiting
1 pouting

Graham had about the same with more ling thou and less cod.

p.s one of the 6lb cod chucked up this and it was just about alive, why it needed my 8oz pirk i dont know but happy it did :)

I think you're starting to get the hang of it now Rich :D Keep at it and soon you'll be catching fish regular  :D It's amazing what they eat down on them wrecks isn't it , I've had them cough up live pollock , live flatties and a foot long squid this year , along with loads of half digested fish as well.
I'm glad someone is making the most of these flat seas , It's driving me nuts trying to work when I know the sea is flat. Have to get out soon ;)
Nice pics as usual ;)

BIG THANK YOU. For another enjoyable and unforgetable days fishing onboard Stingray, CHEER'S RICHY.
Highlights of the day for myself the two Ling caught on a small set of Hokkai intended for Mackerel. and the Mackerel that decided to grab the 6oz lead rather than the baited hook.
