First of two days out at sea this weekend and with the standard 1st season blank out of the way it was time to catch fish....target for today before leaving the house was 1 size codling so standards low but after all it is April.

So myself, cous Dave and Graham set out for a late 9am start. The sea was so flat as we headed out to a few wrecks.

Within 5seconds on my first drop the 1 size codling target was ticket off as it grabbed my 6oz pirk and gave a good spring run fight.

We tried a few more wrecks taken only coalies then we found 1 wreck with a fish a drift, nothing massive about 2.1/2 to 3lb but happy with that.

By 12 noon we had around 10 fish.

So we plugged away then it when dead so we decided to head up St Marrys for a few hours, very very poor and within 10mins of getting there the wind turned SE and got the sea up quick. (ow and its well netted very well netter)

So we plugged away taken 1 more small codling and 1 pouting before the wind and sea got to much, we headed in and the birds showed it had been a day of fish :)

nice one richy, i was sitting in the garden this morning thinking to my self "i wish i was out at sea today on stingray"

what a difference from last time :D

Good report Rich, and a lot better than the 1 cod target. Saw all the boats around the can as I drove to Blyth to dig worms, and no boats there on the way home 90 mins later. Plenty white horses showing though. See what tomorrow brings, hopefully, light winds.

First of many Lovely Days Out onboard Stingray. Many thanks to Richy (Northeast1). Think I've caught Richy's 1st trip blankety blank syndrome never mind tomorrows another day and another Lovely Day Out on the pond to look forward to.
Cheer's Richy.

well done on the fish
shows how quick things change was perfect conditions when we were out at whitley on the yaks this morning jeff

£39 quid Norman it cost lol but you only live once..£1.44ltr or £1.17 with the 60/40.

Lighter winds Sunday but still from the South and SE, still beats a day in the house...short trip out Sunday but still hoping for a few codling.

Well done, the season’s showing signs of getting started at last. The sea conditions in your second last pic look uncomfortable, it can be hard work when the weather starts bouncing the boat around can't it?

Had a cracker today..best April at sea i ahve had as a boat owner..going to watch toon match now pics and reports to follow 7lb the biggest.
