Well what a cracking day in every way.

Started off close in and only manged 1 codling of standard 3lb stamp but the drift was 0.2 so decided to head off and hit some wrecks, nothing ont he 1st two then scotties on the 3rd and a codling about 5lb.

Moved bit further off and ended up with 2 more codling about 4lb and then the boats 1st ling and 1st double of the 2009 season :) tried 2 more wrecks after that but nothing else other than 1 more 3lb codling.

Headed closer in and tried the sand banks at anchor but never got a bite so headed in at 3pm with a nice few fillets and good sun tann.

Still no mackerel but great day anyway.

Nice one Richy, did you get the ling on bait, lures or pirk?

I had a walk round the marina this morning, it's days like today that make you wish you had your own vessel.

You'll be glad you sneaked a few hours out then Ritchie :) Was the ling the double then? What did you catch it on? We havn't seen a ling so far this year , not that we saw a whole lot of them last year either mind.
Sounds a bit like our day yesterday (with bigger fish for you though) odd fish here and there .
Maybe this warm weather will help bring a few fish inshore :)

Ling was caught on baited 6/0 daylights with mackerel it was 11lb 3oz and was full of small frie.

You could have come Keith if i knew you off, often just me or family mid week as everyone else works away until Friday.

1st day i had anything over 4lb all year lol and got 3 over it today.

I tried the pirk like mad when the drift picked upto 0.4 lol but never had a thing on it..water so clean 6 miles out could see my gear about 25-30ft down.

Seem laods and loads of small herring and that.

Infact i smiled the rest of the day as been after something abit bigger than 4lb for weeks.

Hows tricks Dave return the favours sometime if your back in the uk?
