Fished blyth pier today (Sunday) around 11.30-3.30. Sea was heavy from north, too flat for my liking though prefer easterlies or south easterlies. Just the odd heavy groundswell of around 7-8ft nutters surfing on beach in front of car park. You could have quite comfortably fished the beach to around meggies burn.
When i first arived 1/2 tide up big whitings of up to 1 1/2lb were being caught on straight worm. Within 20 min spell around 6 cod caught 3 between 4-5 lb and a bigger one around 8 1/2 and couple of smaller ones. After that not a single codling caught between around 30 rods for at least 2hrs, just the very odd whiting. I fished the end and most fish came within 30yds of me.
I caught **** all !!! Had crab, razors, mussel, lug etc even tried 2 hooking.
Suspect the pier will be alive with whitings tonight.

I turned up as the 8 1/2lb fish being walked down to beach. Stayed til 7.30. Had one good knock on first cast but didn't hook up. After that had a few whities one of which was a very good size. Met Tadpoleman and Rob and Davy Adair as I was winding down. Hope you did ok lads!

Just worked out who you were. Nice to meet you.
