Well woke up about 3am hoyed the stuff in the car and set off for Coldingham, quite foggy to start but it started to clear as I got up past Alnwick, hit a duck that flew in front of the car just at the entrance to haggersten castle..good start... hoped for no damage and when I got to coldingham checked and everything was ok - more than could be said of the duck..sorry.
Headed for castle rock to fish the last couple of hours of the ebb was set up with me line in about 5am but conditions looked a bit iffy with fog in the distance.
Had a few small knocks early on then managed to land one for about two pounds, missed a canny knock then packed up at low water and moved to a mark I fished last year about 300yrds to the left of castle rock,I had almost a wrasse a cast last year but nowt today so packed up again and decided to head across to deep gut (again) for the flood.
Got there to find pots all over the lagoon and a few off deep gut so managed to hit the spot I wanted south easterly towards the end of the caravans about 30 - 40 yrds, watched as the guy came ower to check his pots then wallop managed one for about the four pound mark had a few more attempts to no avail a couple more knocks but failed to conect so headed back 21b
Castle Rock on arrival
Jocks nose popping oot in the distance
First fish at Castle Rock
The wrasse mark I fished last year with the big rock in the back ground but nowt today
The view from Deep Gut with the lagoon in the back ground
Bloke who's pots are aall ower the lagoon
One from Deep Gut to end the morning off nicely

Haha Paul - the curse of Milldown Burn steps...just too big for one step, just too small for two. A nightmare for everyone's calfs.

Those steps are a nightmare for those of us with little short legs.......Ray having 36 inch inside legs had no bother apart from when he tripped over at the top .....not that I was gloating or anything
