Went to fish lyneburn beach today around 2pm a few fishing but the sea was huge! much bigger than i had expected. After a couple of chucks it was obvious the backwash was a nightmare.
Went to newbiggin prom knowing it woul be fishable for an hour and a half before it got dark with the intention of moving to sandy bay beach when darkness decended. Had a whiting about 1lb and a postage stamp size flattie.
Moved to sandy bay and fished from about 5.30pm til 10pm. Sea was perfect and tide was perfect as it fishes best on the ebb. It started off very slowly but managed another small flattie, 4 coalies and 2 codling one about 4lb or so and one about 1.5lb.
I was amazed when i gutted the biggest fish to find two whole rockling in its stomach each about 6-7 inches long! Have neve thought of cod eating rockling before!

Nice report mate.
Very rare I catch good Codling if I have caught Rockling first. Not impossible as I caught two Good Codling for over ten pound one night after getting a Rockling on my first chuck, still rare though.
