Fished the quarry hole with two lads from work this morning ,massive sea it was just pulling the gear in so we moved to Blyth pier ,the conditions looked great ,loads of weed at the end ,massive pull as well riving your gear up the pier ,we moved to the bend ,Alan Norman got a slack line bite ,a nice three pound codling taken on lug and white worm ,no other bites and only heard of one other fish ,a whiting from the end ,baits used ....Everything .

Keep trying Steve, i'm sure perseverance will pay of in the end, it's possible weed and the tides not been that big at the moment may have a bearing on things. I fished Blyth pier on the 27th December when the Easington open was cancelled and conditions then were nigh on the same as they are today, with a huge north/north east swell running. If i remember correctly there was also a sweepstake match on the pier that day, with most of the cream of the North East matchmen present. It was won by Chris Stringer with two codling both about 2.5 lbs each, caught at the pier bend and he was casting towards the beach using lug and whiteworm also. We never got a bite in five hours including most of the other anglers. So keep plugging away mate i'm sure you'll come good. Cheers

Steve - I was on Blyth Pier this morning - 9.20 to 12.00. Fishing the end - bait was coming back untouched! Talked to a guy who had been there since 5.am without a touch! Must just have missed you?
