just a quickie,
fished at oban on thursday with tony, we started with a couple of blackmouthed dogfish on the small rod, then the first skate arrived, tony took it, male fish 96lb
half an hour later it was my turn, harder fight, bigger fish, female 176lb.
tonys turn about an hour later, another female @ 84lb, then within another half an hour i had a take which fought like a devil, 6 deep runs and another 2 crash dives on the way up, very tough fight, we thought this was our first 200lb fish but in the end it was a fresh, never been caught before female of 166lb
after this i found my battery had died, so we got the skipper of the "cheviot" to recover our anchor and meet us in oban then we pottered back in using the 4hp donkey engine, took us an hour and a half to do 8 miles and that was WITH the wind and tide
a great day though, weather was fantastic, unlike now
