Fished Shields Pier last night with our Rob, had first shot just after the blocks at 11 p.m. First two casts produced a pouting and a rockling(both returned) on lug and rag. Moved up towards round end and got nowt, moved down to 44 mark, got loads of knocks using lug, rag, squid, mackeral and razor but got nowt, rigs came back well tangled and slimed though. Moved down to rail end about 03:30, caught 7 whiting between us fishing both south and harbour side of pier and another pouting, rob had 3 good sized whiting and i had 1 (kept them) returned all the rest.

Great meteor shower as well and the weather forecast was well wrong (no rain and very little wind). Had the pier to ourselves, it's not often that happens this time of year.
Ell, Ive seen hagfish off Whitburn/Seaburn area, but then again we never see any Allis Shad off Shields pier and they're caught off Roker every year (different unions maybe?)

Got to say I have never caught one yet. Had plenty round me bait though, as it has been well slimed a few times when retrieved lol.
