Tynemouth retired members fished from the pier yesterday. Still loads of baby codling with some nearly size. Other species taken but in low numbers were coalies to 1 - 7, whiting to 1 - 5, flounder to 1 - 8, plaice, dabs and hagfish. The water was as clear as I have ever seen in Feb.
Excitement of the day was when Dave Bentley had a huge bite from a seal which removed the body from the codling he was retrieving. He did manage to land the head!

It is. Went down the mouth of the river yest and caught 2 a chuck ranging in size from as small as 6"-12". Is this the norm 4 this time of year?

Was going to fish that match, Tony but I had some very sad family news on Tuesday so I decided I needed some 'solitude time'. Fished Whitley Pipe on Wed. for a couple of hours over low water and did not manage one knock! Another lad showed up for an hour and he had nowt too! One thing about fishing though - it allows you to just buggar off for a time and do your own thing. I needed that time away from home. What other sport gives you that?

" Solittude - a nice place to visit but a lousy place to stay"

Appolgies - feeling very low at the mo
