summer cod marks

Those elusive cod

Those elusive cod

Hello Scotty, Sometimes its just about putting a lot of hours in trying to catch cod this time of year, unless you go on a few boat trips. the best fishing from the shore this time of year is at first light and an hour or so after from the rock edges, even the beaches at that time of the day can throw a decent bass out instead of schoolies, and in really shallow water. :)

Two of my favourite spots for summer Codling would be Tynemouth around the Lobster pots area or up to Craster, Both places have to be fairly flat and you want to be casting into the Kelp. You can lose a bit of gear but it can really be worth it.

Jim.

eyemouth can be ok but i used to do a lot better up at st abbs, crab baits are a must. if you want to try closer to home the rock marks at whitburn and marsden always chuck a few good cod out this time of year, again crab baits are a must.
