Sunderland Echo Letter

Anyone read the "Mick the Pen" letter in todays Echo?

Headline was something like "Angling is cruel" His argument was the usual - fish being dragged out of the water with hooks in their mouths, anglers wear "70's style parkas and wellies and always look miserable". His solution to the problem - buy your fish from a chippy :D This lemon needs taking to task as his arguments are so obviously flawed if he believes commercially caught fish are somehow treated better. It's an ideal opportunity for someone to respond with the true story. I bet the paper will print our alternative view. It's a great opportunity to put foward a number of positive arguments about RSA in the NE of England. There's plenty of posters here who could compose some excellent letters. go for it lads and lasses.

70,s style parkas and wellies lol must be the smocks and floaties we all wear and thermal wellies he probs be a dog walker looking for other dog walkers to disguss dog turd bagging lol

Yer not rang m8

Honestly it's a great opportunity - they are almost guaranteed (help) to print a response. There was a really positive article in there not so long ago about a councillor defending anglers rights I think it's been mentioned on the forum.

I think as part of your CSE in journalism you have to do a piece that involves contraversial writing. Obviously this herberts attempt at it. (bound to get a response seeing as next to cross dressing its the country's most popular past time.) And everyone knows you wear a yellow kagool when your fishing anyway! .

C+ could do better.

Have you read it John? I think he's one of the regulars - maybe that's why?
I haven't Ell. We can't get the Echo in this quaint little village in North Tyneside.

Just an assumption. It's along the same lines as letters that say old folk should be put down at 70. People who smoke should pay extra for NHS etc.etc

i bet he is a stamp collecter or train spotter in his spare time, the sad f**cker, we should start harpooning our fish its a lot less cruel .lol

There's one on the Sunday Sun's online discussion group, she's twisted and turned at every chance to try and have a go at anglers, even to the point that we're a hazzard because we're always hitting other people with our hooks and sinkers!
