the forecast wasn't too clever for the east coast as compared to the west so decided to have a scamper over to kirkcudbright. drove over in some great weather and it got better the further west i went. set me first big rod up and cast out.
I had only just put rod down to tackle me other rod up when tell tale sign of a doggy bite made the tip nod.
well, if i pulled up one of these today it was more like twelve of them. regular double shots and to honest it didnt seem like id ever get through them to owt else
in the end i got sick of them so i hung one rod up. I tried all different baits to see if i could put them off, codddy's peeler, sandeel, lug and rag but to no avail. tried size 1 hooks with hardly any bait but they still came.
I reckoned on trying to outrun them with bait so they coudnt catch it. i changed tactics to freelining rag. worked a treat, fisrt cast, bernard the gurnard. second cast and its yabba dabba doo and the 6 month hunt this long rough flatty is over.
and not forgetting bernie
bought meself one of these, cheap, and tried it out today, canny reel, like a winch but the feet rocked in the seat. they seem a little shorter than other reels ive got. i packed it with electrical tape and it'll do for now. anybody had the same concern with there slosh30's
always seem to enjoy meself on the westcoast wether i catch owt or not.there's a sort of unknown factor that you can pull anything from time to time. And a shot the isle of man finish up with.
