Switch to braid????

I've allready made the switch on my boat reels Iv now got braid on my tld's & to be honest can't see much of a difference.
I'm being told to do the same with beach reels but what am I going to expect compared to mono?
I usually put good quality mono 25lb with 60lb shock on my slosh reels
But just stripped & serviced the reels & wondering if I'm going to benefit anything by making the switch? (I'm old school)
I'm looking forward to Your thoughts advice & comments

Depends what you want to achieve by switching to braid.
It will cast further relative to breaking strain but as it has no stretch you have to up the breaking strain (and therefore diameter) to cope with the extra stresses caused by no stretch. The lack of stretch does mean it's brilliant for bite detection though. It isn't as abrasion resistant as mono but does cut through the tide better due to reduced diameter so you can hold bottom easier, however because it's lighter than mono it's more affected by wind when casting and in the rests.

total nightmare switching mono to braid imo

Switched from mono to braid on one of my still water reels at the weekend, definitely wont be going back! going to switch all my reels now. didn't notice any difference in distance (only chucking half an ounce or so) but bite detection was fantastic.

I have both. Use Salt 15ft 3-piece beachcaster with Penn Surfblaster. 60LB braid with 80lb braid leader. Brilliant for distance and bite detection but nightmare when big seas.As no give in braid o rod bounces all over. I tend to hold it when like this. My other outfit is Tip Tornado with Penn 525 Multi. 18 lb line mono with 60 lb mono leader. Brilliant in big seas. Mind I defo have more fun with the braid set up. And bite detection is superb.
Mick.
