I always buy my gear from local shops if they stock it but beeen searching about for a few new reels found 525 mag 2 30 quid cheaper than the shops and black saltists 40 quid less than a shop now 30 quid on a 150 quid reel is a cany difference i understand shops have over heads but then you wonder is this why tackle shops are seeing a loss

I always use the web and find the cheapest deals . we'd take the sea angler into nets and say "can you beat this price " on a good deal - owner says no chance - so we order online from sea angler , if he'd said yes , he would of had our money .... I only ever buy bait from shops now ...

I think the extra money paid is worth it if not too unreasonable, if things go wrong, your local shop, such as nets will sort it no bother. They have helped me this way many times over the years. So I dont mind paying over the top to support their existance.

If possible always buy from local shops. For sure if search the net youll find many items cheaper but if you dont support your local tackle shop and it goes out of business where you going to go when you want bait, a packet of hooks or a packet of lead links !

Thats my moto but were not talking a few quid its a cany percentage i do use internet for line or terminal tackle or even rods unless they dont stock the one i want but am sure they could be a little more competitive

They don't have any rent or overhead charges to fork out selling online so of course you can get stuff cheaper, doesn't mean you will get as good a service as you get from a local shop. IE info, a chat, a look and hold/feel of goods, or any thrown in bits and bobs, not to mention that once the tackle shops gone the majority of us wont be able to source any local bait.

Then when we have to order bait online costing us £10+ delivery every week, then that £30 or £40 saving on that reel etc won't sound such a saving after all.

This internet buying is crippling all buisinesses.I live in whitley
And if u look around the amount of empty shops is unbelievabl.lik
Some of the lads have said on here try and support the local tackle
Dealers or well suffer in long run trying to get bait etc.....

I use my local tackle shop all the time but I do know they sell a hell of a lot online, just a though, do they sell their gear on line cheaper than they do in the shop
