The morning started off badly and didn't get that much better. I awoke to my mobile ringing and Micky saying where are you, i had slept in! Doh!:

Got down the the marina within twenty minutes to see a concerned look on Mickys face, the engine was not pumping water! Off with the hood and we quickly saw the problem but it was a nightmare to get at with anyone with hands not the size of a child's. The flush mount for the engine connects to the cooling outlet to back flush the engine, over a period of time whilst attaching the mount this had twisted the outlet rubber pipe at the back of the engine to the point that no water was getting through.
After removing the pipe and taking the twists out it was all good and pumping water fine.
This put pay to our proposed try of new groung coupled with my lye in:rolleyes:!
Off out and the fishing was slow again, plenty of whitings and mackerel but I only ended up with two codling and one ling, I am not at liberty to say how many Micky caught!:)
No more fishing from the boat for me now until late september as its back to graft a week on Monday, a week camping with the missus and kids at brighouse bay tomorrow and the spinning rod is already packed!
Good luck for all the coming sessions and keep the catch reports coming, they are great for getting me through "busy" 12 hour watches! Fingers crossed there will still be some fish kicking around on the boat when I get back but if not the shore season will have started!
Apologies for no photos again but there was nothing worth snapping!

Great report Graham, even though not a lot of fish..still good to read the report :)....I've looked at the screw adaptor on the Mariner, but never used it yet, always used the muffs, maybe a bit Loctite round the fitting might stop it turning....:)

sleepy head:D not the best start to the day, tough going all round for fish this season so far:exclam:perhaps there will be an autumn bonanza in sept.:exclam::exclam:

look forward to sept posts:D

That's the one we have Chris, we are going to go down the muffs route so to speak as the screw connection is a pain to attach as the threads are crap! The whole system turns so I couldn't see a way of fixing it?
The fishing in early June was amazing we found Duncan but since the unsettled weather and thunder Thursday I think it has went downhill fast with the fishing being patchy at best for us with some days being on fire then two days later rubbish:confused::confused::confused:

I had the same sort of fish results graham, but without the cod (but a bonus flattie by mistake :) )
with a late start and the crew relaxing on holiday I decided just to have a couple of hours out by myself so was back by about 10 .... with no filleting to do :) :) :)
roll on better weather and improved catches .... at least it keeps it as fishing and not just "taking"

see you when your back in september ...

It seems my day out yesterday was better than I thought, I fished specifically for ling and caught them , targeted pollock and caught them and cod and caught a few of them as well, out at five and back in for lunchtime before that wind got too strong :). I only fished one wreck, had half hour on the hard ground after that without so much as a bite .
Looks like a week without any fishing anyway Graham , the easterlies are not showing any sign of shifting :(
My motor has a flush port , the bracket holding it snapped off somehow , Its easy to use though and now I just have it cable tied to the engine cabling , it's just an ordinary plastic hose pipe fitting to connect .
Enjoy your camping Graham , and don't do anything too strenuous when you get back to work , save it for the fishing :D
I think my radio is back from garmin, card in the letterbox says they've been trying to deliver a parcel and I'll get it Monday so next decent sea I'm off to find some big ling ;):)

Good to see you lads at the pier end Graham, the boat looks tremendous.

We only popped to the pier end for half an hour after some repairs, Bert managed 2 cod about 4lb, 1 to a shad and the other on a pirk, bit of a result considering the dirty water.

Enjoy the camping and get ready for the big ling next month.
