A humane hour was clled for with the poor wind early on in the morning and the tide. Out of the piers for 0700 with the gulls diving in the fresh/salt divide at the end of South Shileds Pier.

Once clear of the piers it was apparant it was not gong to be a flat day and we took our first big wave straight over the bows when we were setting up the first drift. I have to say XC wether got it spot on today as the weather dropped exactly when they said it would and we were left with a big slow-ish swell.
Ono the fishing anyway! First couple of wrecks the drift speed was super fast due to the wind but we still picked away:

Moving venue a few times was the order of the day and we found a couple of wrecks that still produced over slack water;

The quality of the fish today was top drawer.

I landed the biggest today, just! All guesstimate as Darren has got the scales in his bag from last trip off! Doh!
No where near as many pesky mackeral today and I can't wait for tuesday!
On the way in Micky was gutting one of the cod and found this in it's stomach!

I may be wrong but I think this is the same as Team Slinky use and may be from a fish they lost last weekend!!!!!

Nice one Graham quality report! All you need to do now is get out and catch a few fish with that leadhead to really rub salt in the wounds!

Dave

That is def a Slinky Leadhead and is also the type I was using last week! :D

Can I have it back? it's clearly lucky :D

Great report guys - good to see you're one trip closer to "full tilt"

Just checked the forecast for tomorrow! Fantastic, can't wait. Hopefully some more research and development is in store! Plus the last session before the first engine service and full ahead!:):):) twice the distance on the plane for the same consumption of petrol! at 3500rpm she is just off the plane and wallowing.

28 knots at 5600 revs today Graham :D, I thought the engine service had dramatically improved my fuel consumption as it was reading 6.6 , then I realised the settings had been changed from mpg to Gph :D

What are you getting consumption wise at a cruising speed of say 20-22 knots Ray? How did you get on fishing wise today or were you just out for a high speed blast?:)

Graham.

The fuel consumption settles at about 4.2 mpg on a flat sea at 20knots Graham, but I don't take too much notice of it as it is so dependant on the sea conditions.
I had a good day out Graham, was out for 5am (no doubt someone seen me leave at 9.30 though ) hit the wrecks, had nowt for an hour or two then found a wreck with fish on it and ended up at the skeers which were fishing poorly , only got one fish there. Best fish was 7.5lb but I can't tell you how many I caught as I'll get called a liar again :(
Hope you are hammering them as I write this , I've got to lay a floor for my daughter today or I'd have been out there as well :(
