The best line to use for the rock marks

Just wanting to know what line is the strongest and takes the least abrasion fishing rocks I was advised to use sufix tritanium and sensor but they are a big FAIL I've been told stren blood red is good but don't want to buy it and not use it what breaking strains would work best too

ive been using the berkley XTS red line.. fab stuff... 30lb all through is ideal for rocks.

While not the thinnest diameter, its a quality bit kit with longtivity.

I have used Ultima Seastrike line 35lb straight through for years and not had a bit of bother with it, also Greys Greylon is a good buy you can get a 1000mtre spool off the Bay for about £8.

I've used sensor for a lot of years and not had a problem with it at all, only use the brown stuff though. I did chop and change for a while to tritanium, F1 and the like because people raged about them. They were absolute pap so went back to sensor and still had no bother with it.

If I was fast up with a fish on in the heavy stuff I know what I would prefer to have on, sensor all the way !!

Stuff that I know people swear by include Berkley Big Game & XTS, Daiwa Tournament, Profish Ghostline & Stren (Stamina if you can get it) or Blood Red. There are little differences to take into account - most lads I know use the above in around 30lb breaking strain & some lines are thicker or wirier than others. Avoid "low diameter" lines for the heavy stuff - the extra diameter is what gives that bit extra resilience.

Personally, I've used Suffix Tritanium red for a few years now almost exclusively and it's definitely my favourite, with Ghostline & XTS close behind. I use the 30lb tied with a bimini twist to 60 or 70lb leader for the rocks and can't really fault it - you definitely need the leader though to cope with the abrasion that you pick up near the business end of your tackle. With that set-up I can straighten out a 6/0 big-eye easily & snap a rotten bottom effortlessly so I'll get most of my rig back every time (even if it's trashed in the process!). If I'm fishing "straight through" I'd be looking at 45-50lb minimum mainline, but I don't tend to fish that way much these days unless I'm using my old Scarborough gear.

sufix tritanium/nite crystal for sandy/mixed ground and i wouldnt use anything other than 30lb stren blood red for heavy ground,thats just me,like 1 of the other posts,im also thinkin of loading up a spool of braid for heavy ground,wel see

Another one for the Berkley lines. Used 30lb big game straight through with no probs in the really rough ground expect the xts to be the same in that breaking strain as well use that in 18lb & 20lb. Ultima power plus is ok as well if you want lower diameter to breaking strain in 30lb and 35lb with 60lb mono shocker or 80lb braid leader.

the best abrasion resistant line by far is profish ghost line, in abrasion tests it wasn't marginally better than its competitors but many many times better, the down side is it has loads of memory and comes off in coils not limp and straight. hate this property but do use it if abrasion is going to be a big problem.

That ghost lines ok in 15lb breaking strain I used it for pike fishing but in 30lb I can imagine it's a bit springy.

I use seastrike in 35lb it's a bit thick in diameter but very strong and quite cheap. I also like ultima distance but it's quite low diameter and fairly expensive.

iv used diawa tournament tritanium and sensor then last year bought the cheap 60lb braid from china off ebay with a 80lb leader on my penn torque and find it much better you can feel the bites through your hands much better if your using a stand i put the ratchet on as a big bite might pull your rod over,i use mono when fishing from height as it would be hard to pull a big fish up a cliff with braid by hand
