well folks after 7 sesions on top marks with top baits in great conditions without a sizeable fish to show i had a few hours at seaham this morn.baits used crab.fresh blacks fished at range on a 2 foot pulley with a weak link.first hour passed without a sniff but the baits were not savaged by the crab hordes at least so if there was a cod there he will have a chance...after about an hour and 20 a got a typical coalie pluck on my left hand rod and left the sucker to grow for 5 mins.well bugger me the coalie turned into a bass .not a big fish but about 12oz but its the first i have got or heard of from the mark.next hour produced a few small rattle and then about 2 cast before home time i saw what i had been looking for for 2 weeks.....a strong pull on the tip followed by slack line,i quickly wound the slack up but got no signal the fish was on....you can imagine my foul lanuage now.all this effort and when i finally hooked a one he drops the hook...but then i felt 2 quivers up the line and then my tip jerked..that was enough for me and i reeled and pumped like a man possesed,2 mins later after some huffing and puffing a rather ugly ( lol ) codling lay at my feet..at 4lb 7 on the scales he was a long haggered fish that if was prime would have weighed close to double but looked a sad sorrt state lying there.like our cod fishing maybe..anyhow i didnt fancy eating him so i slipped him back to tell his mates about the free bait but to no avail,a few more casts later the rain cmae and our cue to head home, not a great sesion and the cod was a bomus but its comes to something when you spen hundreds, driver hundreds of miles and put all the effort in to get a ugly, lone batteler..
