Fished the Heugh 12.30pm to 6pm.Sea well coloured & decent swell on. Looked very Fishy. However, sport was poor with even the Whities very thin on the ground.:rolleyes:
Fished Fresh blacks mostly, hoping that a cod might be there but up to 5.30pm only one appeared for a guy off the top corner, about 2.5lb.

I had 3 good Whities and a small Tommy and decided it was the last cast.
Walked to my Box to start cleaning up & after a while shone my light across the Pier end to see my line draping the Pier.:o
My immediate thought,due to the lack of bites for hours, was that someone was pulling me in cos 3 guys were all snarled up next to me,:D but after winding loads of line in it all went solid and knew a decent fish was on.:cool:

Eventually landed it with help from one of the guys, who weighed it at 5lb 10oz. Job done and well happy.
One more last cast produced nothing so off home with a smile on my face.:D

 
Nice one Bob, I pretty much slept on the Heugh Friday and Saturday and it was ****e!

so that was your fish, :) i heard about one that size. it was my mate on the top with the smaller fish.

i have been out a few nights in the boat, i normally blast the horn at the lads on the heugh as i pass,....... passed the other night and the lads replied with the headlamps..........looked like blackpool prom.......

the fish are very near the shore, we have been doing very good especially into the dark, just 500 meters off, maybe these easterlies will bring them in a bit closer for the shore rods, fingers crossed.

Well done Bob-great those slackliners. Lost count how many times I have looked around to see who is pulling me in and its a half decent fish.

I was on late Friday into late Saturday with a small break in-between...nothing caught but whiting, had a couple nice ones like but no cod at all including bandstand
As usual I come at the wrong time :D Might try again this weekend long as the water aint breaking over which looking at the forcast might be

saw you come in on friday night. all the lights were a group of lads from middlebrough fishing there comp.

Dabcatcher,
i laughed when i blasted the horn, the lads on the end fired the lamps up on strobe setting.....looked well crammed. was there any fish on ?

Friday, if i remember, i had been up North and the water was big coming back in the dark. good fishing, right inside.
