good bit sport but all mine go back asap unharmed if deep hooked the snood is cut off closest as possible dont like the idea of kept in a bucket for a weigh in measure and release is the future for these fella,s

i agree but they are hard fish and dont die easly, thats what ive found anyway...

YES.YES,YES. I have to agree measure and release is the way to go it should be more often practised in the local comps were practical to do so, ie pier/river matches. Not being an expert keeping them in a large container with fresh water is better than NOT.For the unhooking well if you can't get the hook out without causing more stress and damage to the fish,do whats already been mentioned cut the line as close to the hook.

get um back as quick as poss ,then they fight another day.
reather cut the snood then try to do that with the unhooking, looks like it would cause to much stress even though they(flounders)are tough cookys.

when flatty fishing i generaly hold my rod and twitch the bait back very slowly along the bottom, this covers more ground and you can feel every bite and striking as soon as u feel the bite normaly hooks it in the mouth and not deep down its throat and they always go back well.
