The Jester, Seaham Trip..

Stewey, it took a while for me to get in due to the police checks, but worth the wait in the end, did you get the anti foul done :)

Markm few things to sort out, but not far away, i'm tying uptide rigs tonight :)

Police checks just to get a place in a marina!

What is the world coming to?? :(

Its to do with terrorism entering the country through docks and marinas. If you think about it, when you get on and off a plane you are searched and passports checked etc, but you could get on a boat and sail it into a marina with very little security...

How many terrorists could you hide on the Jester Chris?

I mean you will never win the Heaviest Fish Comp if you are having to keep sneaking terrorists into the country! :)

Personally i think its a good thing to have police checks it keeps all the ass holes out lets face it you wouldn't want a house burgular to park his stolen boat next to your pride n joy would you

I understand that, I just think police checks by organisations is getting out of hand. They were put in place to protect people, mainly young people, from dangerous men taking jobs working with young people. I have to undergo stringent checks to run a youth theatre and am happy to do it, but nowadays companies do police checks as a matter of course and I think that is wrong.

Anyway apologies Chris, I don't mean to ruin your thread, which as I said is great. The boat looks amazing and the Marina seems very scenic, can't wait to get down to the NE is 8 weeks for the first attempt at the Cod.

Great stuff Chris, it's all happening now. The trip up sounds great, what's unusual is, to get such a calm sea on a Saturday:D:rolleyes:
Anyway, best of luck with all your "exploration" trips out and enjoy.

Thanks for that Arthur, i've just got back from checking the boat and the sea is cutting up pretty bad, so it was just a small window of opportunity which i'm glad i took advantage of :)

No need to appologise Mark, its an open forum and any points of view are welcome, i agree in a way, i've asked about changing jobs lately and a few have insisted on police checks, which can be a pain :(
But as far as the security of the country is concerned, i think the ports are a bit of a loop hole. These checks are part of a Project Kraken initiative which asks people to be vigilant, and report anything suspicious, i'm in favour of this for the fact i have £9000 worth of equipment floating in a marina 2 miles from view, so if educating people to report anything suspicious helps keep my boat safe i'm all in favour...:)
As for hiding terrorists on my boat......well it depends if they are good anglers .....:D:D;)
